The Fresh Connection: the virtual learning environment for supply chain professionals!

News

Bavaria/The Netherlands winner of Global Final 2011

In Italy, the worlds leading Supply Chain professionals came together to compete for a prize that is sure to become the most sought after Supply Chain prize on the planet, that being the title of World Champion.

This international event took place in Pisa on September 9, 2011.

Team Bavaria from The Netherlands was the big winner of this Global Final 2011. They beat the other five finalists: Mars from the UK, Philip Morris from Australia, Volition Consulting Services from South Africa, Syddansk University from Denmark and Volvo Parts Logistics from Belgium.

Learning experience
The Fresh Connection is a supply chain learning experience for professionals. In a virtual, web-based environment, they are challenged to save a fruit juice maker from its downfall. Advanced simulation software calculates the consequences of the strategic and tactical decisions a team makes from one round to the other. Which team will get its supply chain to perform best? Which team will produce the highest return on investment?

Steep learning curve
With The Fresh Connection participants will benefit from a steep learning curve. They will experience what it is like to design and manage a modern supply chain. How to make a strategy work in practice. How to convince teammates with thorough analyses without getting lost in details. And learn how to cooperate and make decisions with the entire supply chain in mind, instead of just their own department.

Developed by experts
The Fresh Connection has been developed by experts of Involvation, a supply chain management (SCM) consulting firm. Topics covered by the game include production, inventory, supply chain and materials management, purchasing, and logistics.

Big success
The Fresh Connection started in 2008 as a national competition in The Netherlands. An impressive number of more than 1,000 participants battled to become Supply Chain Team of the year. A second equally large edition took place in 2009. There was great interest from corporations and also from educational institutions. A number of these organizations has already decided to include The Fresh Connection in their curriculum.
